Terms & Conditions
This is a private vault holding one person's life story. These terms are between you and DigitalSoulVault, Inc., the company behind holicron.ai. They say what we do with what you put in it, in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask before you agree.
1. What this is
The vault records your life story from conversations you have with it, and builds it into a biography you can read, correct and add to. You are the only intended reader of your own vault.
2. Your story belongs to you
Everything you put in — what you say, the photos you add, the corrections you make — is yours. We do not sell it, rent it, publish it, or use it to advertise to you or anyone else.
Nobody here browses your vault for interest, and we do not use your story to train anything. The one circumstance in which we look at what you wrote is a problem you have asked us to help with — see sections 3 and 4, and it is off unless you turn it on.
3. Which AI reads your story
Curation — the work of turning what you say into your biography — is done by a model running on the same machine your vault lives on. It is reachable only from that machine. Your story is not sent to an outside AI service to be turned into your biography, and that is enforced by an automated check that runs before every change we make: one half reads the code, the other reads the live configuration, because a promise kept only by good intentions is not kept.
Outside AI services are used for building and improving the tool itself — writing and reviewing the software. And if you have chosen to help us improve the tool (section 4), an outside AI may also be used to help investigate a problem, which can mean it sees the data involved in that problem.
If you have not chosen that, an outside AI is not used on your vault.
4. Helping us improve the tool — your choice, and it is off by default
You can choose to share some information with the people building this. The box is not ticked for you. If you skip it, nothing is shared, and the vault works exactly the same either way — this is not a price of entry.
If you turn it on, what we look at first is how the tool behaved rather than what you said:
- Errors and crashes, and what the tool was doing when they happened.
- Counts — how many questions were asked, how many you answered, how many corrections you had to make. Numbers, not the text of any of them.
- Which features you used, and where the tool gave up or got something wrong.
That is what we look at routinely, and for most problems it is enough.
It also means this, and you should read it before you tick the box: when something goes wrong and the numbers do not explain it, we may look at the actual data involved in that problem — and we may use an outside AI service to help work out what happened. That is the only circumstance in which anything you have written reaches an outside service, and it only happens because you turned this on.
It is limited to the thing that went wrong. We do not read through your vault for interest, and we do not use your story to train anything.
You can change your mind at any time, and it takes effect from then on.
5. What we store
- The cards that make up your biography, and the history of how each one changed.
- Your conversations with the assistant, so it can remember what you have already told it.
- Photos and files you add.
- Corrections you make, and questions you have answered or declined.
- A record of your agreement to these terms: when, and which version.
It is kept on a server we operate, backed up so that a disk failure does not lose your story.
6. Sharing with people you know
Your vault is yours alone by default. No other account can read it.
You can also share a memory with someone who uses the vault too — a moment you were both at, or a group you set up together. That happens only when you choose it, and it reaches only the people you chose. Nothing is shared by being recorded, and nothing is shared by default.
When somebody else is there too, the vault can ask them for their side of it, and what they write is theirs.
A shared memory becomes their record as well as yours, and it stays with them. If you later remove it from your vault, or close your account altogether, their copy remains — because it is their life too, and we will not delete somebody else's memory of a day they were there. That is the one thing you cannot take back by deleting, and it is worth knowing before you share rather than after.
7. You can correct anything
If the vault records something wrong, say so and it is corrected. A correction is an answer, not a complaint: it reaches the record itself, not a suggestion box. Nothing is written into your biography without you.
8. Getting your data out, or removing it
You can delete a photo or a conversation from inside the app today.
For anything else — a copy of your whole vault, removing a card, or closing your account and erasing it — email us and we will do it by hand, within 30 days. The vault does not yet have a button for those, and we would rather say so than imply one exists. When those are built, these terms will be updated to name them.
⚠ One limit, and it is section 6: anything you shared with somebody else stays in their vault. Closing your account removes your copy, not theirs. We would rather tell you that here than have you find it out afterwards.
9. This is early software
The vault is under active development and is provided as it is. It can be wrong, it can be briefly unavailable, and it can lose a recent change. Do not treat it as the only copy of anything you could not bear to lose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.
10. What we ask of you
Put in your own story. Do not use the vault to store other people's private information without their knowledge, and do not use it for anything unlawful. You are responsible for what you choose to record about other people.
11. Ending this
You can stop using the vault whenever you like, and ask us to remove it as described above. We may end an account that is being used unlawfully, and will tell you why.
12. If these terms change
We will show you the new terms and ask you to agree again. Your previous agreement records which version you accepted, so there is always an answer to "what did I agree to".
13. Getting in touch
Email webinfo@digitalsoulvault.com. A question about your own data gets an answer from a person.
